Route, cost, and recovery details

For eligible standard crypto-to-crypto routes, uSwap’s platform fee is currently 0%. The amount received can still reflect provider pricing or spread, blockchain network costs, market movement, and any selected confidential, fast, fiat, or affiliate fee. The quote displays the modeled breakdown before funds are sent. Floating or expired quotes may be recalculated.

The standard uSwap crypto interface does not require users to create an account or submit identity documents directly to uSwap. Providers and counterparties may apply identity checks, transaction limits, sanctions controls, or geographic restrictions depending on the selected route.

uSwap does not provide users with a wallet account or an ongoing stored balance. Depending on the selected route, funds may be sent directly to a provider or may temporarily enter an address or balance controlled by a provider, uSwap automation, or an operator for execution, settlement, or recovery.

uSwap selects the best-scoring eligible route returned by the enabled providers for the selected assets and settings. This is not a guarantee of the best price across every market.

uSwap automates common underpayment, overpayment, late-deposit, re-quote, and refund cases. Some wrong-asset, wrong-network, provider-ambiguous, already-broadcast, or unsupported-token cases may require provider or operator review and may not be recoverable. Timing and deductions depend on the route, provider, and network.

The privacy stack

Mullvad uses a numbered-account model rather than a conventional email-and-password profile. The account number is the credential used to add time and authenticate, subject to Mullvad’s current product terms and privacy policy.

The standard uSwap interface does not require a consumer account. You send a supported crypto and the engine coordinates provider fulfillment to the Mullvad account number. The bridge URL is the user-facing transaction reference, while operational and provider records can also be retained. Monero and transparent-chain assets have different source-chain visibility, but neither makes the complete route anonymous or untraceable.

What you can buy

  • 1 month — most expensive per-month rate; useful for one-off testing or short trips.
  • 3 months — common starter plan.
  • 6 months — middle-ground.
  • 12 months — best per-month rate for most users.
  • 24 months — the lowest per-month if you’re committing for the long haul.

Available duration tiers and product pricing are confirmed at quote time. Eligible standard crypto routes carry a 0% uSwap platform fee; product markup and other route costs can still apply.

Why pay through uSwap instead of Mullvad directly?

Mullvad already accepts BTC and XMR directly. If you hold either of those, going direct is fine — there’s no reason to add a layer.

The case for uSwap is when you don’t hold either. If you have USDT, ETH, SOL, BNB, LTC, TON, or anything else, Mullvad’s direct payment doesn’t accept it. You’d need to swap to BTC or XMR first, send to Mullvad, wait for confirmation, then add time. uSwap collapses that into one step: send what you hold, the engine routes to a payment the Mullvad API accepts, account gets credit.

For privacy-conscious users, XMR has different source-chain visibility from transparent assets. The uSwap route still introduces additional infrastructure and provider records compared with paying Mullvad directly, and those parties may be able to correlate transaction legs or account metadata.

What happens after you pay

  1. You send the crypto. Bridge page shows the chain confirmation count.
  2. The engine routes. You see one rate; the engine does whatever’s needed to land a payment Mullvad’s API will accept.
  3. Time gets credited. Mullvad’s API returns the new account expiration; the bridge page shows it. You can verify by logging into Mullvad with your account number and seeing the new time.

Typically under 10 minutes from deposit-confirmed to time-credited. The bridge URL stays available so you can return to verify or initiate the next renewal.

Recovery

Same recovery model as everything on uSwap. If you sent the wrong amount, the engine re-quotes; you pick market-replace, hold, or refund. If Mullvad’s side rejects the credit (account number doesn’t exist, etc.), the intent moves to hold and you can either provide a corrected number or refund.

Practical note on jurisdiction

Mullvad is based in Sweden and complies with Swedish law. The combination of Mullvad’s no-account model and uSwap’s no-account payment doesn’t change that — if a Swedish court ordered Mullvad to retain logs for a specific account number, they would. The “no logs” claim is policy + technical-architecture, not magic.

The account-number model reduces reliance on a conventional named profile, but it does not prevent correlation through network, provider, payment, device, support, or on-chain records.

Frequently asked

Mullvad already accepts BTC and XMR directly. The reason to use uSwap is the multi-chain pay-in: if you hold ETH, USDT, SOL, or anything else, you can pay without first swapping to BTC or XMR yourself. The engine does the routing in one step.
